Business Requirement
As part of cost cutting initiatives, the lease on Pretoria Towers was identified as an opportunity area. Additionally, there was an opportunity to maximise space utilisation at the Centurion site, which could accommodate the staff contingent remaining in Pretoria.
Placing all staff in one location after the restructuring exercises would help to drive collaboration and synergies between the teams.
Business Benefits
- R105m saved on Pretoria Towers lease
- Improved space utilisation (from 30-35m2 to 8,62m2 per FTE)
- Reduced cost of maintaining buildings through utilising newer technologies and regular maintenance
- Reduced cost of operations by incorporating sustainable solutions into campus fabric
- Increased business value by developing new revenue streams through increased co-locations on campus
Actions Taken
Over the course of 2014-2015, all Large Telecommunications Company staff based in Pretoria towers were moved to three new building constricted
A second stack of the building was required based on a large company acquisition and restrictions of the Large Telecommunications Company Group. This has involved:
- Creating capacity in The Apex to expedite the company’s business integration
- Optimising the campus footprint as VERP/VSP and outsourcing initiatives have led to pockets of open workstations across campus
- Entrenching the new Large Telecommunications Company culture and agile working principles
- Facilitating the exit of leased premises
Additionally, the campus has been enhanced through developing a new Guest Experience pilot and improved OHS and Security processes and procedures
